Moving fast

Things have quite picked up since yesterday morning!

First of all, I found a house! It's located in Visayas, another part of Manila, but only 15 minutes from work by jeepney (sort of chicken bus like in Guatemala- they're all decorated with "go with god, god blesses you, etc"). Good to know since traffic here is pretty hectic- survival of the fittest (biggest, fastest) applies here!

The owner of the house, Nana, is an artist. She paints, takes really nice pictures and makes documentaries (she won an award at the film festival of Prague). You can check out her website at: undergroundpix.org.

The house is at the end of a dead end street, so it's pretty quiet around there (except for a rooster that wakes up the whole neighbourhood). The house has a big living room, a kitchen and 3 bedrooms (1 for Nana, 1 for a Japanese guy that works for an NGO (haven't met him yet) and then my room). The care taker, Masita, is really nice and will cook for me so I'm pretty happy with that. They have 2 dogs, 1 dalmatian who's deaf and another dog that is more scared of me than I am of him. I'm moving in next Monday!

Yesterday evening I went for dinner with Hanneke, the coordinator of 11.11.11, and we met some really nice people. I even got invited to a ballroom dance party, on June 15th, I'll let you know how it went.

So I'm totally installed already (have a cell phone, internet is working fine, etc.). The only thing that's causing troube is the bugs. I woke up this morning with moz bites all over and 2 other giant bites (size of a tennis ball), Ophel thinks it's cockroach bites, Citas thinks it's ants, I'm not sure what it is but it itches like crazy! Will go out to buy some repellent tonight. Dengue season starts in July, so by that time I have to be fully equipped.

Take care all and stay cool! fx

Feetje,

I'm very happy you settle in so fast. Enjoy the time and forget the bugs. Ignore them, maybe they 'll do the same with you !
The place you're moving in feels like holidays.May be there are no bugs there. But be realistic : a repellent is the best acquisition you can do and also the best buy.
take care. TLC M

Fedra,
Looks like we will have to brush up our English. Greetings from your aunt and me of course.

Looking forward to reading your blog.

Hope you enjoy yourself there, like your mam said, when you get bitten, could be you get smitten also, if you understand what I mean.

Have to go now,
Take good care of yourself
